Easy Hairstyle Tips for Short Hair on Round Faces
What are the best hairstyles for people with round, or fuller faces? Some people just assume you can’t have short hair with a fuller face, but I really want to debunk this myth. It’s simply not true.
Bob haircuts do NOT make your face look fuller, if you style them the right way! I’m excited to share some tips and techniques to make you feel confident in your short hair.
Length is Key
For short to medium hair, a bob for instance, you need to pay close attention to the length of the cut. Any length that is stopping at the chin is going to accentuate more fullness in your face. If the length is longer than the chin, this helps elongate the face and offsets the look of fullness.
Where We Put Volume Matters
When dealing with a round face shape, any amount of volume at the sides of your face is going to make your face look more full. Volume at the top of the hair is key, and also helps elongate your face shape.
Bangs Aren’t Always the Answer
This might be a controversial opinion, but bangs aren’t always the best style when you have a round face. A strong, square, blunt bang can actually make your face look rounder. A blunt bang can close your face off and bring the emphasis down towards your cheeks. If you have a round face - opt for a thinner bang that has more peiciness - where you can still see your forehead through your bangs.
Frame Your Face (but not too much!)
Do we style hair off the face or towards the face? The answer is both.
When you bring your hair off of the face, your face will open up. If you bring your hair down and into your cheeks, it will close off your face. If you bring too much hair towards the face, it can close it off too much, and make the face look fuller. Allow a few pieces to frame your face, but make sure most of your hair is off the face to open it up.
Use Volume to Accentuate Cheek Structure
Volume is very important if you have short hair and a fuller face. Use volume to lift your eye and accentuate your face structure. The easiest way to bring out your cheekbones is to create volume in the temple area. To do this, we need to take away volume from the sides of your face and concentrate on having volume up towards the crown of your head using a volumizing product. This will open up and help elongate your face.
Volume, length and style are critical elements to your hairstyle if you have a fuller or round face and wish to elongate your face structure.
Communicate with your stylist, and tell them your concerns. They should be able to work with you to give you a haircut that uses all of the above elements to accentuate your favorite features and take emphasis away from the areas you don’t want to highlight.
