Say Goodbye to Frizz: Top Anti-Frizz Hair Products Tested

Frizzy hair can be an ongoing struggle, chipping away at confidence and making even the best hair days feel out of reach.

As a hairstylist with nearly 30 years of experience, I’ve seen firsthand how overwhelming the search for effective anti-frizz products can be. That’s why I (with a little help from a friend) decided to take matters into our own hands.

We conducted a hands-on experiment, testing some of the most popular anti-frizz products on the market to uncover what truly works—and what doesn’t.

Our mission? To help women everywhere cut through the noise, find the right solutions for their hair, and feel confident every single day.

Understanding Frizz and Its Causes

Frizz occurs when hair lacks moisture, leading the cuticle to open and allow external moisture to enter, causing strands to swell and create a frizzy appearance. Factors contributing to frizz include humidity, hair damage, and improper hair care routines. During our experiment, we kept these factors in mind to evaluate which products deliver real results.

Best ANTI-FRIZZ Products Tested: What We Learned From the Experiment

Here are some of the most popular anti-frizz products on the market. We've evaluated their affordability, effectiveness, and results from our experiment to see which ones truly live up to the hype. After testing the products, here’s what we discovered:

Briogeo Farewell Frizz Rosarco Milk Leave-In Conditioning Spray
  • Color Wow Dream Coat Supernatural Anti-Frizz Treatment
Although this treatment is priced higher than Briogeo, it didn’t live up to expectations. The frizz levels were almost the same as when Gabi had no product in her hair, which was a bit disappointing considering the premium price tag.

  • Ouai Anti-Frizz Creme
In the same price range as Color Wow, Ouai delivered results similar to Briogeo. There was still some frizz on the sides of Gabi’s hair, but overall it was more manageable than when no product was used.

  • Virtue Frizz Block Humidity Proof Smoothing Spray
The most expensive product on the list, but it impressed us! It showed a slight reduction in frizz compared to Briogeo, making it a standout. For those willing to splurge, it delivers solid results.

  • John Frieda Frizz Ease Extra-strength Hair Serum
The biggest surprise of the experiment! Despite being the most budget-friendly option, this serum performed similarly to the more expensive products. It was an excellent find for anyone looking for affordability without sacrificing results.

Tips for Managing Frizz

In addition to using the right products, consider the following tips to manage frizz effectively:

  • Hydrate Your Hair: Regular deep conditioning treatments can help maintain moisture balance.

  • Use a Microfiber Towel: Drying hair with a microfiber towel reduces friction, minimizing frizz.

  • Avoid Over-Washing: Washing hair too frequently can strip natural oils, leading to dryness and frizz.

  • Protect from Heat: Always use a heat protectant before styling with hot tools to prevent damage.
